A total of 17 Department of Science and Technology-Region VI (DOST-6) scholars from the Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas (TUP-Visayas) passed the Mechanical Engineer Licensure Examination earlier this year.

Recipients of the Republic Act 7687 Scholarship, the DOST-Science Education Institute (SEI) Merit Scholarship Program, and the Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) were among those who passed the exam.

The Republic Act 7687 Scholarship is awarded to talented students from low-income households, the DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship Program is awarded to students with a high aptitude in science and mathematics, while the JLSS scholarship is offered to third-year college students taking up science and technology coursework.

DOST scholars are provided assistance for tuition and fees; along with allowances for books, transportation, among other school essentials./WDJ
