The Iloilo City Transportation Management and Traffic Regulation Office (TMTRO) recently revealed a traffic rerouting plan to be implemented for the upcoming All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day observances, which runs from November 1 to 2.
According to Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) head Jeck Conlu, whose agency oversees the TMTRO, roads leading to the local cemeteries will be cleared, beginning on Monday, October 30.
“We will clear illegal structures and, at the same time, we will ask the vendors not to obstruct the roads, which [are] expected to be congested when the public flock to cemeteries to pay respects to their departed loved ones,” he said.
Motorists headed towards the Tanza Cemetery from the City Proper district should pass along Ledesma Street, towards Tanza-West Avenue. Those coming from Timawa Avenue, Gen. Luna Street, and MH Del Pilar Street towards either the Tanza Cemetery or the Chinese Cemetery should pass along Infante Avenue and Delgado Street.
Those intending to visit the Aglipay Cemetery should utilize Lopez Jaena Street, towards Timawa Tanza.
Visitors to the New Public Cemetery from Huervana Street should turn right towards the Jereos Extension, while those coming from Lopez Jaena Street should turn left onto the Jereos Extension. Those visiting the Jaro Public Cemetery should pass El 98 Street, turning left onto Libertad Street and Fajardo Street, towards Cuartero Street.
Those paying respects at the Mandurriao Cemetery can turn left onto Mejorada Street at Mandurriao Plaza or turn right on Mejorada Street, going towards De Leon Street, and making a right on Oñate Street, heading towards Calajunan Street.
Motorists making their way to the Molo Cemetery should pass MH Del Pilar Street.
For visitors to the Arevalo Cemetery from either Sto. Niño Norte or Sto. Niño Sur should use Yulo drive.
Parking
Parallel parking will be permitted along the length of Ybiernas Street, towards Gen. Luna Street, between the corner of Delgado Street-Infante Avenue and Ybiernas-Delgado Streets, across from the Tanza Cemetery.
There will also be parallel parking sites along Commission Civil Street, towards Jaro Plaza; the right side of Calajunan Street, towards Oñate Street; along MH Del Pilar Street, between the intersection of San Pedro Street and Infante Avenue; and along Rizal Street, Quezon Street, and the entrance of Villa Carolina.
Meanwhile, parking areas have also been designated along Jereos Street, towards Javellana Extension.

Trisikads will be banned along certain roadways.
They will be prohibited along Ledesma Street in Timawa Tanza Zone I; Delgado Street, from Infante Avenue towards Jalandoni Street; Jereos Street, from Gustilo Street to Javellana Extension; Jereos Extension, from Huervana Street to the New Public Cemetery; Oñate Street from the corner of the Imperial Subdivision to the Mandurriao Cemetery; and MH Del Pilar Street, between Lopez Jaena Street and Infante Avenue.
In addition, Yulo Drive will be off limits for all trucks, trisikads, and tricycles.
PUJs
Public utility jeepneys (PUJs) originating from B. Aquino Avenue in the Molo district towards the City Proper district are required to run along Infante Avenue, making a left onto Delgado Street, and a right onto Jalandoni Street to get to the Terminal Market; while passing Fuentes Street and Ledesma Street to follow the reverse course back to Infante Avenue on return trips.
