A rookie police officer was arrested by members of Police Station 2 (PS2) after allegedly pointing her firearm at a civilian at 13th-Lacson Street, Barangay 7 in Bacolod City, early Friday morning.
Police identified the suspect as Police Officer 1 (PO1) Kriscel Mae Doctora, a resident of the said barangay and a member of Police Station 8 (PS8) of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
According to BCPO spokesperson, Police Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, a fight broke out at a bar between the officer and Patrick Jan Legaspi, a friend of the primary subject, Rexie Panoncillo. When Panoncillo tried to pacify the situation, Doctora allegedly pulled out her 9mm service pistol and pointed it at Panoncillo.
PS2 was called in to break up the fight, which resulted in the police officer’s arrest.
Authorities recovered the 9mm Glock pistol, a one 9mm magazine, and five 9mm bullets.
Vargas said BCPO acting director, Police Superintendent Rhoderick Minong, ordered Doctora detained at PS2.
She added, Panoncillo plans to file criminal charges on the grounds of grave threat.
Vargas said they are also investigating why Doctora was inside the bar, as police personnel are prohibited from entering such establishments./DGB, WDJ
