Over 38 hectares of land adjacent to the Bacolod-Silay Airport in Silay City was recently declared a special economic zone by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
A registration agreement was signed between Golden Dragon Agri-Aqua Corporation President Eric Hernaez and PEZA Director-General Charito Plaza in Bacolod City, identifying the area as the Bacolod-Silay Economic Zone and Technopark (BSEZT).
According to Mactan Export Processing Zone Chamber of Exporters and Manufacturers trustee Porferio Montesclaros, who witnessed the signing, the development “will herald the economic boom of Silay and the province of Negros Occidental.”
Located in Barangay Bagtic in Silay City, the BSEZT allows the province to attract various investors, including those in the information technology, manufacturing, tourism, agro-industrial, among other industries./DGB, WDJ
