A missing college student was recently found along the national highway in Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City, late Wednesday night, after going viral on social media.
Police identified the student as 19-year-old Ma. Cristina Tumbis, a resident of San Enrique, Negros Occidental, and an accountancy student at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R).
In a report by Bombo Radyo-Bacolod, Tumbis reportedly sent a text message to her parents on Tuesday, saying she was riding a bus and was in the town of Valladolid.
As the night went on, she became unresponsive to text messages, compelling her parents to report her missing to the local police.
Her parents also shared pictures of her on social media in the hopes someone might have seen her.
On Wednesday evening, a concerned citizen found Tumbis and brought her to Police Station 9 (PS9), where she was described as being in a weakened condition.
Cops tried to talk to her, but she would not respond.
PS9 personnel later rushed Tumbis to the Bacolod City Adventist Medical Center (BAMC) for treatment and contacted her parents.
Investigators from PS9 have yet to determine what happened to Tumbis and why she went missing for 24 hours./DGB, WDJ
