Isabela Mayor Joselito Malabor yesterday announced the streetdance competition winners of the Tigkalalag Festival, set to begin next week, October 31, along with the Tigkalalag Queen, will represent the town at the next Panaad sa Negros Festival.
Much like the recent MassKara Festival of Bacolod City, the streetdance competition will be divided into barangay and schools categories, with seven barangays and six schools expected to take part in the contest.
Meanwhile, there are 12 candidates vying for the title Tigkalalag Queen.
Back in August, the mayor announced intentions to relaunch the festival, pointing out it had been shelved for the last four years due to a change of local leadership.
He noted then, for this year, part of the celebration will also include a cooking contest of native delicacies like suman, puto, among other items.
The celebration is expected to run until November 2./DGB, WDJ
