A fisherman from Puerto Princesa, Palawan was rescued by authorities from Sipalay City, Negros Occidental after he was spotted floating off the coast Monday morning.
Authorities identified the victim as 65-year-old Orlando Warisal.
Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Bacolod station commander, Lieutenant Senior Grade Jimmy Oliver Vingno, said Warisal left his homeport last October 17 to fish.
However, Warisal was swept away by large waves generated by Typhoon Pablo, leaving him floating in the Sulu Sea for at least seven days.
Warisal was later rescued after fishermen from Sipalay City found him floating off the coast and immediately brought to a hospital in Bacolod City for treatment.
He was discharged yesterday morning.
Vingno added, Warisal is scheduled to return home today via Iloilo City./DGB, WDJ
