Reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia-Pacific bantamweight champion ‘King’ Arthur Villanueva of Bago City is scheduled to take on undefeated World Boxing Council (WBC) world bantamweight titlist Luis Nery next month, November 4, in Tijuana, Mexico.

“I’m very much ready for the November face-off with Nery,” Villanueva told Watchmen Daily Journal. “I saw his fights and he’s strong, I need the stamina in this fight.”

He noted, “This should have been a title fight, but WBC didn’t approve it.”

Villanueva most recently beat Richie Mepranum of Sarangani after the latter refused to continue their fight during “Pinoy Pride 42: Clash for Glory” at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino last month.

Meanwhile, veteran coach Edito Villamor said Villanueva has had great training.

“Nery is a great champion and this is an exciting fight between the two fighters,” he said. “Both boxers want to engage.”/JSG, WDJ
