In response to drug use allegations presented in a legal affidavit executed by former Barangay 35 captain Manuel ‘Maui’ Huelar, Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson took a drug test yesterday morning, which turned out negative.
The test was conducted at the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital, with the results signed by analyst Karen Mae Mallorca Dela and laboratory head, Dr. Melanie Rose Zerrudo.
The vice governor tested negative for methamphetamine and cannabis use.
Last Monday, Lacson denied Huelar’s allegations after he was linked to an alleged drug trade within the Sta. Clara Subdivision in Bacolod City.
“In my 30 years in public office, I have never been accused of any involvement [with] the illegal drug trade nor using illegal drugs myself – or any wrongdoing for that matter,” the vice governor insisted.
Lacson also characterized Huelar as a “mercenary” and a “loose cannon.”/DGB, WDJ
