The Iloilo City government and the University of Iloilo (UI) recently signed a memorandum of understanding to conduct pilot testing for flood monitoring and early warning devices.

The memorandum also provides for a disaster risk reduction management-related animation.

“We welcome the initiatives from different sectors that will assist the city’s disaster risk reduction management and [build] a disaster-resilient city,” said acting Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III, who signed on behalf of the city, alongside City Councilor Lady Julie Grace Baronda.

Under the memorandum, the city government will lead in the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of the said activities. They are also responsible for providing a venue, any necessary set-up, financial costs, among other resources./WDJ
