Iloilo CENRO, City Agriculturist release 10K tilapia, 4K ‘crablets’ into the Iloilo river

The Iloilo City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) and the City Agriculturist’s Office released 10,000 tilapia fingerlings and 4,000 ‘crablets,’ or juvenile mud crabs, into the Zone 4 section of the Iloilo River, last Friday.

City Agriculturist Romulo Pangantihon explained, Zone 4, stretching from the Carpenter’s Bridge, which connects the Molo and Mandurriao districts, to the boundary of Oton, is a declared productive zone for fishing.

The fish and shellfish were provided by the South East Asian Fisheries Development Center-Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC-AQD) based in Tigbauan, Iloilo.

The project was conducted as part of Fish Conservation Week./WDJ
