Heavy rains generated by a low pressure area and Typhoon Pablo caused landslides in Bago City, forcing residents to flee their homes late Thursday evening.
Bago City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) action officer, Dr. Mary Jean Ortizo, said several landslides were reported in Sitio Guintubdan, Barangay Ilihan, and Barangay Ma-ao.
Ortizo said residents fled before the landslides occurred, and were able to return to their homes after the heavy rains stopped.
She stated, the Bago City Engineer’s Office also began clearing debris in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, a tree in Barangay Antipuluhan fell, heavily damaging one house.
No one was injured in the incident.
A trapped cane truck was also reportedly rescued following an overflow in Barangay Binubuhan.
The Bago City DRRMO has yet to determine the amount of damage caused by the rains and are still surveying./DGB, WDJ
