Former Negros Occidental fourth district Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer, who unsuccessfully ran for vice governor in 2016, said he is considering running for either governor or vice governor in the 2019 elections.
He ruled out a run for Congress as his wife, Juliet Ferrer, succeeded him as fourth district representative in the last elections.
“My wife is already there, so any of the two positions are possible,” Ferrer stated.
Alongside Ferrer, incumbent Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon III, son of incumbent Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr., have both been floated as possible gubernatorial candidates.
Negros Occidental Third District Representative Alfredo Benitez was previously a possible candidate as well, however, the congressman said he would prefer not to run against his Love Negros partymate Lacson.
He has since been included as part of the PDP-Laban senatorial lineup for the upcoming polls./DGB, WDJ
