After surrendering to police earlier this week, former Sara, Iloilo treasurer Edna Pacrim is now being held on P5 million bail.

An arrest warrant was issued back in May of this year by the Sandiganbayan, in relation to a 2011 case of suspected misuse of public funding, which involved former Sara Mayor Neptali Salcedo and municipal engineer Roel Salcedo.

The three were suspended from their posts back in 2012 after the Office of the Ombudsman found the construction of two farm-to-market road projects were overpriced, resulting in graft charges against the three former officials.

A prior case, which implicated the three, along with five other officials, alleged over P1.2 million was provided for a questionable supplier, along with accusations of forgery.

Pacrim was indicted by the Sandiganbayan on 46 counts of malversation of public funds and falsifying public documents./WDJ
