After previously hinting the Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) was considering giving awards to the police officers involved in the recent ambush in Barangay Caliling, Cauayan, PRO-6 director, Police Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, yesterday conferred awards to the five members of the Cauayan Municipal Police Station.
Based on documents released to the media, Senior Police Officer 1 (SPO1) Jeorge Anthony Lorenton, Police Officer 3 (PO3) Turk Libo-on, PO2 Thom Amable Mamigo, PO1 John Mabayag, and PO1 Sunny Boy Llena each received the Medalya ng Papuri award from the Philippine National Police (PNP) in recognition of their bravery during a ceremony at the Bacolod City Government Center.
Cauayan municipal police chief, Police Chief Inspector Gary Alan Resuma, was also given an award for his handling of the situation.
Binag said he is considering having the police officers serve as trainers for rookie cops on handling ambush situations.
Aside from the five Cauayan police officers, awards were also given to San Carlos City police chief, Police Superintendent Arturo Fullero; La Carlota City police chief, Police Superintendent Cresenciano Cordero; and Bacolod City Police Station 6 (PS6) commander, Police Chief Inspector Jovil Sedel for successfully capturing high-value drug targets in their respective jurisdictions./DGB, WDJ
