High school students from La Carlota City top Provincial Statistics Quiz

Grade 9 and 10 students from Doña Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School (DHSBNHS) in La Carlota City topped the Provincial Statistics Quiz, an event of the ongoing 28th National Statistics Month observance, at the Bacolod Business Inn last week.

Jeedwn Suwin Vertosio, a Grade 9 student; alongside Mia Rose Vergara and Rochelle Sacudit, Grade 10 students, earned top marks for the school.

Following DHSBNHS were Negros Occidental High School, La Castellana National High School, Doña Montserrat Lopez Memorial High School, and Himamaylan National High School.

The five schools advanced to the regional competition, set to take place in Iloilo on Sunday, October 22.

Cash prizes ranged from P4,000 to P7,000.

The board of judges was comprised of Dr. Jessamine Calma of Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod and Febe Quingco of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, with Dr. Noeda Madamesila serving as quiz master./WDJ
