After reporting reduced crime rates over the past couple of weeks, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) declared the city was “peaceful.”
“As always, the situation is manageable and Iloilo City is very peaceful,” said ICPO operations chief, Police Superintendent Jowel Saliba. “We have not recorded big crimes, especially [those] involving gangs.”
Classified among “big crimes” include murder, homicide, rape, carnapping, etc.
Earlier this month, ICPO reported, between September 25 and October 1, there was a 32 percent drop in crime. More recently, between October 2 and 9, the city police office reported an almost 40 percent drop in crime as compared to a similar period last year.
Saliba credited the “manageable” crime situation to police visibility and weekly assessments of city police station commanders./WDJ
