The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Region VI (DSWD-6) awarded former New People’s Army (NPA) members Remia and Romulo Cabualan of Leon, Iloilo the 2017 Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya, which honors “exemplary family beneficiaries.”

The couple was awarded amnesty in 1995 after announcing their departure from the militant rebel group in 1992. They were eventually enrolled in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), where they received financial assistance to augment their income.
