During a recent briefing for information officers, Billing, Collection and Reconciliation Division Chief for the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) in Bacolod City, Rosenie Chavez, said there are over 60,000 GSIS members in Negros Occidental.
She also noted, there are over 1.5 million members nationwide, with around 15 percent comprised of pensioners.
Chavez discussed the two kinds of membership, regular and special.
She explained regular members are government employees receiving fixed monthly compensation while special members are covered under retirement schemes separate from GSIS.
The local GSIS official projected, by 2022, GSIS will be the “premier social insurance institution” and considered a “top-three” pension fund institution in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region./WDJ
