The Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP), who held their national convention in Iloilo City last week, named the Panaad sa Negros Festival the grand winner of the Best Tourism Event category during their Pearl Awards ceremony.

The win gives the festival Hall of Fame status as 2017 marks the third triumph for the festival, after previously earning the honor in 2008 and 2016.

Negros Occidental provincial planning and development coordinator, Dr. Ma. Lina Sanogal, who served as Panaad Festival executive director, received the award.

According to Sanogal, 2018 will be the festival’s 25th year, set to run from April 14 to 22.

Meanwhile, other Negros Occidental events recognized include the Sipalay Kite Festival for Best Tourism Event in the sports category, and the Suyac Island Journey for Best Practices on Community-based Responsible Tourism.
