A 19-year-old man was found dead in a riverbank at Purok Sigay, Barangay Zone-3, Talisay City, yesterday morning.

Police identified the fatality as Orlando Salazar, Jr., a resident of the said area.

Based on an initial investigation by Talisay City police, Salazar’s mother, Elizabeth, said she last saw her son on Thursday evening.

Residents, meanwhile, claimed the victim was always seen sniffing a solvent, which they say was stolen from nearby houses.

Salazar was found by local residents wearing shorts and lying down face first near a nipa tree.

A post-mortem examination determined a wound on the victim’s back likely caused his death, however, the cause of the wound is still under investigation.
