Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. said three mayors suspected to be drug protectors by President Rodrigo Duterte will be allowed to join the ruling PDP-Laban.

The governor himself is set to leave the Liberal Party (LP), where he serves as provincial chairman, for the president’s party.
Defensor said he was quoting House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez in naming Calinog Mayor Alex Centena, Carles Mayor Siegfredo Betita, and Maasin Mayor Mariano Malones, Sr. as the three considerations to join PDP-Laban.
However, back in August, when 4,000 officials from Iloilo swore allegiance to the party, Alvarez said it was unclear if Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog would be allowed to join the party as he was still among the officials named by the Duterte administration as allegedly having links to illegal drugs./WDJ
