The Negros Press Club, in partnership with Hustisya Natin, a judicial watchdog group, will be holding a media training on monitoring the judiciary today at the Grand Regal Hotel.
According to Club President Renato ‘Aksyon Boy’ Duran, the seminar is aimed at enhancing accountability and integrity of the Philippine justice system.
He pointed out, the seminar will include a walk-through of the criminal justice system, along with a talk on “paper trail” and knowing what records the media and the public have access to.
“We really hope to encourage lively and open discussion,” said Duran.
Meanwhile, around 200 high school students from secondary schools across the city attended a seminar on fake news at the President’s Hall of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R), yesterday morning.
The seminar, dubbed “Scholastic Outreach: Let’s Get Real on Fake News,” is a joint undertaking of the press club with the Philippine Press Institute (PPI)./WDJ
