Based on data gathered last week, between September 25 and October 1, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) reported a 32 percent drop in crime.
“We have increased police visibility and frequent operations conducted against illegal drugs,” said ICPO operations chief, Police Superintendent Jowel Saliba. “We need to continue maintaining the security of the public.”
According to the ICPO, a total of 65 cases were recorded last week, down from 96 recorded in the same period last year.
The office put out a similar report last month after reviewing crime data between September 4 and 10 of this year, which showed a total of 74 criminal incidents recorded, a lower number as compared to the 102 during the same period last year.
According to ICPO spokesperson, Police Senior Inspector Shella Mae Sangrines, “We can attribute this decrease of criminal incidents to the sustained deployment of ICPO personnel to specific strategic areas.”/WDJ
