P6.9M worth of fishery livelihood projects distributed throughout Negros Occidental

Department of Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol distributed a total P6.9 million worth of fishery livelihood projects during a recent visit to Negros Occidental.

Fishery livelihood projects are comprised of post-harvest kits; marine engines; fishing gear, including crab pots and fish gill nets; fiberglass-reinforced plastic boats; and fish snack carts.
An additional P1 million worth of market development assistance was turned over to Pontevedra, P30 million was pledged to marginal and small farmers and fisherfolk from Ilog, tilapia fingerlings will be provided for Isabela, and 50 fiberglass boats will be distributed to every coastal municipality in the province.
Meanwhile, Piñol also met with sugar cane farmers to discuss the local industry./WDJ
