Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday lauded the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), following the recent arrest of Alex ‘Rondoy’ Barredo, leader of the notorious Rondoy robbery group.
Referring to the arrest as “good news,” the mayor believes it will lead to a drop in robbery incidents in the city.
Leonardia also reiterated he has not lost confidence in BCPO acting director, Police Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, following rumors that claimed the mayor was planning to remove the police chief from his post.
“I would like him to continue doing his part,” said Leonardia. “I hope he would be able to overturn whatever negative perceptions that come up.”
Last Monday, police received information claiming Barredo was heading to Barangay 7 to conduct a drug transaction.
The suspect later admitted to being involved in a series of robberies in Bacolod City, Talisay City, and Silay City.
He is currently detained by PS2 and faces illegal drug charges, along with violations of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban./WDJ
