In response to Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr., who earlier this week announced the PDP-Laban mass oath-taking, scheduled to take place in Victorias City on Thursday, October 5, had been postponed, Negros Occidental third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez confirmed the event was pushing through as originally scheduled.
The congressman also confirmed House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez would be present; however, an appearance by Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III is still unconfirmed.
In his previous statement, the governor did not provide a reason why the postponement was supposedly taking place, suggesting, “Maybe they moved it for the MassKara Festival.”
He also believed, with President Rodrigo Duterte expected to attend the said festivities on October 20, Marañon said the presence of the president would increase attendance at the oath-taking, including those coming from Metro Manila./WDJ
