Two snatchers were arrested in downtown Bacolod City, Sunday evening, after allegedly victimizing revelers during the opening of this year’s MassKara Festival.
Police identified the suspects as 27-year-old Joebert Alisem of Purok Kingfisher, Barangay 16 in the said city; and 20-year-old Mark Benedict Buenaobra of Metro Manila.
Police Station 1 (PS1) commander, Police Senior Inspector Leo Estopa, said Buenaobra was arrested after allegedly snatching a mobile phone from a woman along Gatuslao Street.
The suspect was initially chased down by a nearby traffic enforcer until police were able to put Buenaobra in custody.
Estopa noted, the suspect was involved in previous snatching incidents in the same area, with the most recent instance occurring last month.
Meanwhile, Alisem was captured after he snatched a mobile phone from a street vendor, identified as 26-year-old Elog Ander.
Alisem was later cornered and mauled by an angry mob.
Both suspects face theft charges and are presently detained at PS1./WDJ
