The Negros Occidental provincial government recently launched a contest for architecture students from La Consolacion College in Bacolod City and Southland College in Kabankalan City to design a new building for the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC) as the facility prepares to relocate to Talisay City.
Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. announced the winner would receive P100,000 from the provincial government, while second and third place would receive prizes from the Negros Occidental chapter of the United Architects of the Philippines.
The governor added, the winner is expected to be announced in January.
NOLITC is expected to move from its currently location at the old Paglaum Sports Complex in Bacolod City because, as Marañon explained, “It is already too crowded.”
NOLITC is the only government-run language and information technology center in Western Visayas./WDJ
