Man shot after confronting armed home invader in Mandalagan

A man was shot by an armed home invader early Friday morning at Purok Santol, Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City
Police identified the victim as 35-year-old Benjamin Oliveros, a resident of Pavia, Iloilo City temporarily residing in the said area.
According to Police Station 3 (PS3), the station received a call from the Our Lady of Mercy Specialty Hospital reporting the victim was involved in a shooting incident.
Police Senior Inspector (PSI) Jun Ray Batadlan conducted a follow-up investigation, where he found the victim had been woken up by a noise around 3:10 a.m. Inspecting the situation, Oliveros spotted the unidentified suspect crawling on the floor, who drew an unidentified caliber of firearm, pointed it at the victim, and ordering him to stay on the floor.
The suspect subsequently shot Oliveros twice, striking him in the back.
Bystanders rushed the victim to the hospital for medical treatment, while the suspect fled in an unknown direction.
Recovered from the crime scene were an empty cartridge of a .38 caliber round, one live .38 caliber bullet, and one empty cartridge of a .38 caliber inside the victim’s vehicle.
PS3 is currently conducting a follow-up investigation into the identification and possible arrest of the suspect./WDJ
