Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson recently endorsed the legalization of marijuana for medical purposes, which House Bill No. 180, or the Philippine Compassionate Medical Cannabis Act, seeks to implement in the country.
“The health committee of the House of Representatives has endorsed the bill,” he noted.
Bacolod City Councilor Caesar Distrito also voiced his support, saying most countries have already accepted the medicinal value of marijuana.
Both elected officials believe there should be stringent guidelines on the use of the said substance.
“There must be strict monitoring and measures,” said the city councilor.
The bill, authored by Isabela first district Rep. Rodolfo Albano, seeks to establish Medical Cannabis Compassionate Centers (MCCC), which can sell, supply, and dispense cannabis./WDJ
