Guards at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Dumaguete City apprehended a minor last Tuesday in possession of illegal drugs.

Authorities have refused to name the suspect, but confirmed he is a resident of the said city.

According to city police, the suspect was visiting an inmate and attempted to smuggle illegal drugs into the facility by hiding it in his shoes.

Jail guards were able to confiscate the contraband through their security procedure and immediately detained the minor.

The suspect was later turned over to the local Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) office, while the recovered illicit substance was forwarded for further examination./MIS, WDJ
