Following the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) meeting in Pasig City last month, Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said, “We will definitely invite members in the province.” The call was in response to NPC chairman Eduardo Cojuangco, Jr., who told those gathered the party needed to increase its numbers.

Lacson yesterday reiterated his statement, saying the party is currently looking for the “opportune time” to conduct recruitment.

Amid the earlier announcement of a mass oath taking for the PDP-Laban next month in Victorias City, both Lacson and Bacolod Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya affirmed their commitment to the NPC, with both indicating an existing “working relationship” between the two parties.

Last year, 11 members of Bacolod City political coalition Grupo Progreso (GP), of which Gasataya is also a member, switched allegiances.

Among them was Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who ditched the NPC for the ruling party./PLL, WDJ
