The body of a farmer was found floating in the Hinoba-an River at Sitio Mahuyabhuyab, Barangay San Rafael, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental, Sunday afternoon.

Police identified the fatality as 57-year-old Greg Librea, a resident of Purok 4, Barangay Po-ok in the said municipality.

According to the Hinoba-an Municipal Police Station, the farmer’s son, 34-year-old Erwin Librea, reported the discovery to police after the body was spotted by a certain Danny Elardes.

Earlier that day, the elder Librea reportedly left his home at 12 noon and was said to have gone for a swim in the river, despite being told not to by his son, as the former had previously suffered a stroke, leaving half of his body paralyzed.

The father was brought to the Eleuterio T. Decena Memorial Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival by the hospital’s attending physician./MIS, WDJ
