Over the weekend, Iloilo fourth district Rep. Ferjenel ‘Ferj’ Biron received endorsements from legislators and mayors from his district, along with the second and fifth districts, as he is considering a possible gubernatorial run in 2019.

Among those lending support included Ajuy Mayor Jett Rojas and Pavia Mayor Mike Gorriceta, who also represented his father, Iloilo second district Rep. Arcadio ‘Cadio’ Gorriceta.

Biron earlier explained, he and incumbent Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. brokered a “gentlemen’s agreement” and asked key leaders to form a consensus on who should seek the governorship in the next election.

According to the congressman, the said leaders supported his candidacy.

However, following the governor’s decision to leave the Liberal Party for the ruling PDP-Laban party, Defensor declared the agreement no longer valid.

Biron expressed his disappointment with the governor.

The governor reportedly switched parties in order for his son, incumbent Iloilo third district Rep. Arthur Defensor, Jr., to succeed him./WDJ
