One man was killed at the Caduhada Spring Resort located at Sitio Mambangon, Barangay Cabacungan, La Castellana on Wednesday morning; while another went missing near the Mag-Aso falls in Kabankalan City on the same day.
According to La Castellana police, 46-year-old Elmer Temrevilla, a resident of the said sitio, was killed after being crushed by a tree at the resort.
A report by La Castellana municipal police said, around 7:00 a.m., the tree was cut down by 44-year-old Teodoro Cabasis, which subsequently fell on the victim.
Temrevilla was rushed to the La Castellana Rural Health Unit, but was declared dead on arrival.
Cabasis surrendered himself to local police, where he faces involuntary manslaughter charges.
Meanwhile, a search is currently underway for 22-year-old Norbe Almeda, who was last seen diving into the water near the Mag-Aso falls.
Police report said Almeda’s friend, identified as Jerey Ben Jornada, saw Almeda drowning and tried to rescue him, but the river current was too strong.
According to a local guard, guests are not allowed to visit the falls because of the said current./WDJ
