Orange-AA Electrical defeated Bacolod Basketball Club-Toby’s (BBC-Toby’s), 92-81, while Akasya beat Capitol, 82-75, in their opening games of the 2017 D’League at the STI-West Negros University, last Monday.
Orange-AA Electrical took an early 26-14 win, following 12 points from George delos Reyes.
That scoring deficit expanded to 20 points at the half, as the eventual winners took a 53-33 lead.
Despite a late 33-16 rally by BBC-Toby’s, the 32-point lead built up at the end of the third period by Orange-AA Electrical kept them ahead by the time the game ended.
Mic Jara led the winners with 14 points, with delos Reyes adding the aforementioned 12; however, despite the loss, Jade Ayupan scored 17, while Allan Jaena added 15 to the BBC-Toby’s tally.
In the other game, Dominic Acosta led Akasya with 14 points, while Jyan Bascar and Luigi Porras added 12 points each; thanks to two three-pointers, RR dela Cruz delivered a total 19 points for Capitol./WDJ
