Cadiz CENRO captures tricycle driver in violation of forestry code

Tricycle driver Luciano Lastimoso was recently apprehended by the Environmental Law Enforcement Team for transporting a reported 15 sacks of unlicensed charcoal in San Carlos City.

The Environmental Law Enforcement Team (ELET), under the Cadiz City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) enforcement division, recently impounded a tricycle for transporting a reported 15 sacks of unlicensed charcoal at Purok Kalingling, Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City in Negros Occidental.
According to authorities, the driver, identified as Luciano Lastimoso, a resident of Barangay San Benito, Calatrava in Negros Occidental, did not possess any documents from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), which violates RA 7161, the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines.
Based on a release from the Cadiz CENRO, the seized charcoal was valued at P3,000.
Administrative adjudication proceedings for the case began last Thursday./WDJ
