Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. refused to comment on the recent approval of a P1,000 budget for the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), which was supported by three Iloilo congressmen, including Iloilo third district Rep. Arthur Defensor, Jr.

He said their vote is “their decision.”
The governor pointed out, when he was a congressman, “There was a time an agency only had P1 [for a budget].”
Joining Rep. Defensor in the affirmative vote were Iloilo first district Rep. Richard Garin and Iloilo City Lone District Rep. Jerry Treñas.
Meanwhile, Iloilo second district Rep. Arcadio Gorriceta, Iloilo fourth district Rep. Ferj Biron, and Iloilo fifth district Rep. Raul Tupas did not submit votes on the measure.
However, Biron said, had he voted, he would have opposed the budget./WDJ
