Mass communication masters students of West Visayas State University (WVSU) in Iloilo City will be hosting Media Mindset at the WVSU Audio Visual Hall tomorrow, September 15.
The event, carrying the theme “Media, Meaning, and the Millennials (Hugot, Hashtag, Atbp.),” seeks to discuss the role of millennials and the media landscape.
“Millennials have a unique way of thinking and understanding things,” said event chair Bailey Oring. “As the most ethnically diverse generation, they tend to be tolerant of difference.”
“Millennials set the trend, while the media is the trendsetter,” he added.
The event expects to attract at least 150 students, media practitioners, and other professionals from across the region; and will include talks and forums on such topics as News vs. Fake News, Government Outlets: Reaching the Millennials, and The Flip Side: Agenda as Truth or Truth as Agenda.
Speakers anticipated for the event include journalists Francis Allan Angelo and Perla Lena, marketing consultant Leny Treñas-Ledesma, youth empowerment advocate Jelen Villareal, and Professor Julie Prescott./WDJ
