The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) expressed their desire to see the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) maintained after passing a resolution, during their regular session yesterday, appealing to President Rodrigo Duterte to reconsider plans to eliminate the government agency.
According to the legislation, penned by City Councilor Em Ang, “The abolition of the Sugar Regulatory Administration will be disadvantageous to the sugar industry in Negros.”
Duterte earlier named the SRA as a corrupt government agency, noting, among the agencies labeled corrupt, one had hired consultants who were paid P200,000 a month./WDJ
