Provincial Government recognizes local taekwondo champion

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr., Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, and the members of the Provincial Board recently recognized 13-year-old Mary Angeline Uy Alcantara, following her gold medal win at last month’s World Cadet Taekwondo Championships in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

The Living Stones International School student won the 44-kilogram division of the competition and was also named most valuable player.

The provincial board awarded her P50,000 intended for training and development.

Last week, the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution congratulating Alcantara./WDJ
