The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has deployed security guards to block the entry of informal settlers into the old Bacolod Domestic Airport premises in Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City.

Bacolod–Silay Airport Manager Mecine Reyes said her office has also tried to reach out to Barangay Tangub Captain Noli Villarosa, requesting illegal structures be removed from the side of the runway.

However, he has yet to respond.

She added, if Villarosa was intending on having informal settlers establish residence on airport property, he should have sent a letter indicating his objectives, which would have been forwarded to the CAAP for a final decision on the matter.

Meanwhile, Villarosa said barangay tanods have been posted to the area to block entry, particularly at night.

The CAAP guards are on patrol 24 hours a day./DGB, WDJ
