Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. recently revealed a new road connecting Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental with Tayasan, Negros Oriental will be constructed, calling it the “shortest link between Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.”

He said the project will be a boost in tourism for both provinces.

It was earlier reported that Marañon is pushing for a new highway to be built to complement the existing coastal road.

The governor said the proposed highway should go through less-populated areas, in an effort to develop those parts of the island, and suggested the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) conduct a study./DGB, WDJ
