Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) director, Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, Jr., yesterday confirmed several individuals associated with slain drug lord Richard ‘Buang’ Prevendido are currently active in Negros Occidental.

In a phone interview, the NOPPO head denied reports Prevendido was spotted in Victorias City prior to being gunned down during a police operation last week in Iloilo City.

“If it’s true that he was in Victorias City, then the public should have contacted us,” he explained.

Castil also urged the public to cooperate in the campaign against illegal drugs, saying police training and equipment would be useless without participation by the community.

Last Friday, Prevendido was killed in the Jaro district of Iloilo City after he allegedly fired back at police who were trying to serve him an arrest warrant./DGB, WDJ
