Isabela Mayor Joselito Malabor yesterday announced the municipality would hold its first town convention this weekend, from September 9 to 11, at the Isabela Socio-Cultural Center.
He said the event will be focused on promoting federalism, after the town council passed a resolution endorsing the transition to a federal form of government and declaring “Empowering the People Towards the Federal Form of Government” as the theme of the convention.
Around 500 local officials and municipal employees are expected to participate with invitations sent to Negros Occidental fifth district Rep. Alejandro Mirasol and Abang Lingkod Party-list Rep. Stephen Paduano.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary for Public Safety Jesus Hinlo, Jr. and the wife of former Janiuay, Iloilo Mayor Frankie Locsin, Mary Jane Locsin, are also expected to address the event./DGB, WDJ
