Following the dissolution of the Negros Island Region (NIR), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) yesterday announced their NIR office would cease operations as of 5:00 p.m. on September 30.
However, the offices of the Social Welfare and Development (SWAD), a division of the DSWD, will continue operating in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.
“Our Negros Occidental SWAD office is still located at the Provincial Administration Building, along Gatuslao Street in Bacolod City; while the Negros Oriental SWAD is located at the DAR offices in Barangay Bantayan, Dumaguete City,” the agency said.
DSWD personnel currently servicing Negros Occidental will eventually act as liaisons for DSWD-6, while their counterparts in Negros Oriental will serve the same purpose for Region 7.
To those with additional concerns, the DSWD suggests contacting Fernando Alabado in Negros Occidental and Jenny Sarte-Egagamao in Negros Oriental./DGB, WDJ
