During a meeting of the Provincial Sports Council, last Thursday at the Social Hall of the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol, planning for upcoming provincial and area meets were discussed, with the decision these competitions would serve as qualifiers for Negros Occidental athletes to compete in the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Meet.
The last time these events were staged was two years ago, as Negros Occidental had been competing for the Negros Island Region, which has since been abolished via an executive order signed by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Various area competitions are set to begin in November./WDJ
