A 16-year-old Grade 11 student reportedly committed suicide at her residence at Purok Kalanga-an, Barangay Paticui, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
Police have refused to identify the victim, but confirmed she was a female.
Based on an initial probe by authorities, the victim had been reprimanded by her father that morning and, after returning home from tending to farmland, the father arrived around 9:00 a.m. that same morning to find his daughter hanging outside their home with a rope around her neck.
The victim was sent to Ignacio Arroyo Sr. Memorial District Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.
Hinigaran police are currently conducting a follow-up investigation into the incident./WDJ
