The family of Mailyn Joy Derecho Delfin of Cuartero, Capiz is seeking justice after Delfin, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) based in Kuwait, was allegedly beaten by her employer.
According to reports, the 26-year-old domestic helper returned home last week, August 16, with her face black and blue from a supposed beating she suffered.
Delfin’s brother, Merwin, said the family lost contact with the OFW for almost an entire year and are demanding his sister’s former employer be held accountable.
The family is also appealing to the recruitment agency, I-Rekrut Manpower, Inc., to take action.
Prior to Delfin returning home, the agency sought the assistance of the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait, who contacted Kuwaiti police; however, instead of being brought to the police station or the embassy, Delfin was sent back to the Philippines.
Meanwhile, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) will be extending financial assistance and conduct a debriefing on Delfin once she is released from the hospital./WDJ
